When I was younger (jr high or high schoolish) I wanted to be a photographer. I joined the yearbook staff in high school and was editor my senior year. I have tons and tons of pictures that I printed for this purpose (this was back when the digital camera age was just beginning and film photos were still elebenty billion times better than digital; now point and shoot film is just 100x times better, but almost impossible to come by). I had a couple of point and shoot cameras in high school. One that I really liked but somehow managed to lose around prom time one year. The other I got as a replacement. It was also a great point and shoot camera, but I stopped taking as many pictures in college. Unless you want to lug your camera around everywhere, it's nearly impossible to keep up with picture demand when you're in college. Digital cameras were getting better, but I wasn't interested in paying for one. At the end of college, before going to grad school, I decided to break down and buy a digital camera. It was getting harder and harder to come by film, and digital would allow me to email my pictures to love ones who didn't live nearby. My camera was ok, but I was never in love with it. No matter how hard I tried, my pictures almost always seemed hazy. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with me or the equipment (I have since heard other people mention the same problem, so that makes me feel a little better).
Yesterday, I broke down and bought myself a new camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T2i, to be exact. And I am in love. I played with some of the settings yesterday while taking pictures of random things around my apartment. The pictures are so good, I would make love to this inanimate object if I could! No joke. I don't plan on taking up photography as a profession, or even a sideline, but it could be an awesome hobby. I think I may go to the conservatory next weekend to play with it. Beware, this may mean you may have to sit through many, many random pictures on this blog now. But since this is my blog, I get to do that! :)
Are you a fan of picture taking? What do you like to photograph?
