confirmation of a lesson learned
I try to take a multivitamin. I live alone so I don't always make completely balanced meals. (I find it much easier and much more fulfilling to cook for others than for just myself.) Multivitamins aren't the best way to make up for that, but it's better than nothing! A couple of months ago I took my vitamin before work and while I was brushing my teeth I started to feel a little queasy. And then I had to throw up. The queasiness isn't unusual, but I rarely actually get sick. I went and checked my milk carton (since I had poured milk onto my cereal) and it was a day past the sell-by date. Now, I know that it should be good for a few days past that date, but I don't take chances with those things. I figured that meant one of two things: 1) milk was bad or 2) the vitamin pill made me sick. Either way, I threw out the rest of the milk and started talking children's gummy vitamins because I figured those would be easier on my stomach. (Don't judge - they put adult doses on the bottle as well.) It's about time for me to buy new vitamins, so I started looking at the different types yesterday at the pharmacy. It's significantly cheaper per serving to buy the non-gummy vitamins (you take two gummies a day, unlike the one of the other type per day). I decided this morning to give my old vitamins a good try. Bad idea, Batman! Not five minutes after taking the vitamin, I was laid out hoping the queasiness would go away and I wouldn't actually get sick. After a while it subsided, but it helped me make up my mind - gummies it is! I guess the extra cost is going to have to be worth it.
